Planning a destination wedding in Cancun is exciting — but choosing the right videographer? That part can feel overwhelming. After 10 years filming weddings across Cancun and the Riviera Maya, here’s what I wish every couple knew before booking.

1. Don’t choose based on price alone

It’s tempting. You’re already spending a lot on your wedding, and the cheapest option looks good enough. But here’s the reality: your wedding video is the one thing you’ll watch for the rest of your life. The flowers are gone the next day. The cake too. The video stays forever. Choosing the cheapest option often means missing the moments that mattered most.

2. Always read the reviews — and read them carefully

Don’t just look at the star rating. Read what couples actually say. Are they talking about specific moments the videographer captured? Do they mention feeling comfortable and natural? Those details tell you everything about the style and personality behind the camera. A videographer with 60+ five-star reviews isn’t just good at their job — they’re consistent.

3. Ask about vendor fees at your venue

This one surprises a lot of couples. Many resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya — including some of the most popular ones — charge external vendors a fee to work on their property. Sometimes that fee is so high that your preferred videographer becomes unaffordable, or the resort pushes you toward their in-house team instead. Always ask your venue about vendor fees before you fall in love with a videographer.

4. Make sure their style matches your energy

Not every wedding video needs to feel like a slow, cinematic art film. If you’re throwing a party — if your wedding is going to be loud, colorful, full of dancing and laughter — you need a videographer who can capture that energy. Ask to see full wedding films, not just highlight reels. A 90-second reel can look amazing but tell you nothing about how they handle a 6-hour wedding day.

At LunArts Films, we always tell couples the same thing: our style is dynamic, colorful, and spontaneous. No stiff poses. No slow motion for the sake of it. We’re there to capture your party — the real one, the one you actually threw.

5. Book early

The best videographers in Cancun book out months — sometimes over a year — in advance. If you find someone whose work genuinely moves you, don’t wait. A quick inquiry costs nothing. Losing your date to someone else costs everything.
